Wife files federal wrongful death claim after husband's death

A trucking company that has trucks running on the highways of several states is facing a federal lawsuit that was filed by the wife of a truck driver who died in an accident in 2013 near Bluefield, West Virginia. The lawsuit names the trucking company and one its clients as defendants in the wrongful death claim. According to the plaintiff, she employed her husband to collect and deliver goods on behalf of the defendant trucking company.

Retail store sued for personal injury after fall

A West Virginia woman is suing Gabriel Brothers after she was injured in a fall at the Charleston location of the store. The injured women claims that she suffered injury due to dangerous conditions at the store. Stores and other public places have a responsibility to maintain a safe environment for patrons. The personal injury suit against Gabe's cites negligent maintenance and failure to properly maintain the facility. 

Workers' compensation may be available after recent accident

A recent accident at a mine owned by the nation's largest privately-owned coal company left one dead and two other workers injured. The accident was at the Murray Energy Coal Mine in West Virginia and is still under investigation by authorities. After any type of work accident, including mine accidents, victims and families could be eligible for workers' compensation to cover medical expenses and other costs. 

Products liability cases in the United States

West Virginia readers are likely familiar with the products liability claims against GM regarding faulty car parts and the apparent danger posed to motorists. The car manufacturer has paid millions of dollars to grieving families who have lost loved ones in car accidents and those who have been injured. As this major case underscores, products liability claims may be a legitimate way to pursue claims for financial relief after suffering from dangerous or hazardous products.
