Motor vehicle accidents: Crash at intersection injures 2, kills 1

While traffic lights and signs are intended to help control the flow of traffic at intersections, they may prove to be little help when drivers fail to heed right of way. Should a driver ignore a stop sign or red light upon entering an intersection, the results could be disastrous, as motor vehicle accidents involving such circumstances can be exceedingly dangerous. Two individuals suffered serious injuries and another person was killed during a recent accident involving a similar scenario in West Virginia.

According to authorities, the incident took place on a recent Monday when for reasons unknown, the driver of a truck failed to yield the right of way upon entering an intersection. The truck proceeded to crash into a nearby car while attempting to navigate a left turn. The impact of the initial crash reportedly prompted a chain reaction incident involving as many as three vehicles.

Law enforcement agents advised that three individuals suffered severe injuries in the crash, each of whom was rushed to nearby medical facilities soon thereafter. They also state that the driver of the truck passed away at a hospital later on. While an investigation has been initiated, it remains unclear what might have caused the driver of the truck to fail to adhere to traffic lights or signs.

Motor vehicle accidents involving such negligence have the unfortunate chance of leaving those involved with severe or permanent injuries. Following the incident, a person could choose to consult with an attorney for guidance on his or her available legal avenues. An attorney can help a client in West Virginia better understand what to expect from the process and assist in preparing to pursue the full amount of restitution deserved through a personal injury claim.
