Motor vehicle accidents: 1 injured, 1 killed in head-on collision

There are a multitude of circumstances in which a person could lose control of a vehicle and veer into another lane of traffic. Regardless of how it occurs, it may leave other nearby drivers scrambling to react to a hazardous scenario. Motor vehicle accidents involving such situations can place the safety of everyone nearby at risk. A recent head-on collision in West Virginia killed one person and left another with serious injuries.

Law enforcement agents responded to reports of the crash just after 3 p.m. on a recent Tuesday. They say the incident took place when for reasons still under investigation, the driver of a truck lost control and crossed into the opposite lane. They say the truck proceeded to hit an oncoming vehicle head-on soon thereafter.

The driver who caused the crash reportedly suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to a medical facility. Police have advised that an investigation into the incident is still underway, likely in hopes of determining what might have caused the driver of the truck to drift over into oncoming lanes.

Head-on motor vehicle accidents can have disastrous results and those who suffer severe harm under similar circumstances may face a variety of hardships in life. If another party is deemed at fault in the crash, the victim could choose to consult with an attorney for guidance on the available options for legal recourse. An attorney in West Virginia can examine a client’s injuries and financial needs and assist him or her in preparing to pursue the full amount of restitution deserved through a personal injury claim.
