Motor vehicle accidents: Head-on crash injures 2, kills 1

When a vehicle veers into oncoming lanes, nearby drivers may find it nearly impossible to react quickly enough to avoid a potential disaster. Head-on motor vehicle accidents run a greater risk of having catastrophic outcomes that could leave those involved with severe or even fatal injuries. One person has died and two others suffered serious harm during a recent head-on collision in West Virginia.

According to reports, law enforcement agents responded to the scene of the crash on a recent Friday morning. The accident is said to have occurred when for reasons unknown, the driver of a southbound vehicle suddenly lost control and veered into the opposite lane. The vehicle reportedly proceeded to collide head-on with a nearby van soon thereafter.

Authorities say the driver who caused the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger of the van both suffered severe injuries and were both rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. While the accident is under investigation, no further information was provided as to what might have caused the driver of the first vehicle to lose control and veer into oncoming lanes.

With the costs of medical care and a long road to recovery ahead, those who suffer serious harm in motor vehicle accidents may encounter a variety of hardships in life. If another driver is deemed at fault, a person in West Virginia could choose to seek advice on the available legal avenues by consulting with an attorney early on. Such guidance could help a person better understand all the available options and assist in preparing him or her to pursue restitution through a personal injury claim.
