Motor vehicle accidents: Drunk driving crash injures 2

A collision can take place in the blink of an eye and under a multitude of scenarios. When drivers choose to operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the chances motor vehicle accidents may occur increase substantially, and the results of drunk driving accidents can be disastrous. Two individuals were transported to the hospital following a recent head-on collision involving a suspected drunk driver in West Virginia.

Law enforcement agents reportedly responded to the scene of the crash on a recent Thursday. Initial investigations indicated that the accident occurred when, for unknown reasons, the driver of a northbound truck suddenly drifted across the median and into the oncoming lane. This truck collided with another vehicle head-on shortly thereafter, subsequently causing at least one person to become trapped within his or her vehicle.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders airlifted one person to a nearby medical facility for treatment of serious injuries. A second person was reportedly transported to the hospital via ambulance. Police say they located containers of alcohol within the truck and indicated that impairment appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Motor vehicle accidents involving the presence of impairment can have catastrophic consequences. Those who suffer serious harm due to similar forms of negligence could benefit from seeking legal counsel as soon as possible for guidance on their available options for legal recourse. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in West Virginia in pursuing the restitution entitled through a personal injury claim against the party deemed at fault.
