Wrongful death: Collision claims lives of 2 in West Virginia

During times of inclement weather, remaining in control of a motor vehicle can be substantially more challenging. Those who fail to slow down during winter weather conditions may unfortunately place the safety of others in harm’s way in the process. A recent accident that took place during similar conditions has led to the apparent wrongful death of two women in West Virginia.

The accident reportedly took place on a recent Thursday at around 5 p.m. during times of adverse weather conditions. According to reports, the driver of a southbound vehicle lost control of it and crossed into the wrong lane of traffic. This prompted a chain-reaction crash involving as many as three vehicles and left several people with injuries.

Unfortunately, law enforcement agents have advised that the crash also claimed the lives of two women. In addition to the presence of inclement weather, police suggest that speed may also have been a contributing factor in the accident. During winter weather, drivers must use caution and slow down to accommodate for slick driving conditions, and those who fail to do so may create a potentially hazardous scenario.

Hearing the news that a loved one has died in an accident can be a devastating experience, more so if the incident comes as a result of another party’s negligence. Those who lose someone close in a collision may wish to exercise their rights to pursue restitution in civil court, and they could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney for assistance in the process. An attorney can assist a client in West Virginia in pursuing the restitution deserved through a wrongful death claim against the party deemed culpable.
