Personal injury suits an option after accident with semi-truck

After a recent bus accident was blamed on an allegedly negligent truck driver, victims could have the option of filing personal injury suits. The accident involved a West Virginia school bus full of children as it was stopped, picking up more students before school. At the time of the collision, the bus lights and stop signs were activated. Because of the circumstances of the accident, the families of the injured students may consider a personal injury case against the truck driver and the driver’s employer.

The accident occurred when the bus was stopped, with a semi-truck stopped behind it. An approaching semi-truck was unable to stop in time, hitting the stopped semi. As a result, the bus was hit in a chain reaction collision. West Virginia law enforcement indicated that the driver of the second truck was driving too fast at the time.

That truck driver was given several citations as a result of the accident, including for speeding and failing to maintain control of the vehicle. It is noted that all of the vehicles sustained significant damage, but no one suffered fatal injuries. Nine of the children on board the bus were injured and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A personal injury suit is an option when a person has suffered serious injury due to the negligent or reckless actions of another person. The injured children and bus driver appear to have suffered physical injuries under circumstances that were not their fault. A successful civil suit against the parties deemed responsible could result in financial recompense for the victims to help cover the cost of any accident-related expenses.
