A woman has filed a personal injury suit against a West Virginia hospital, claiming that her mother was injured as a result of the facility’s negligence. The woman was a patient in Cornerstone Hospital when she reportedly slipped and fell. As a result of her fall, she suffered from extensive and painful back injuries. Her daughter filed the personal injury suit on her behalf.
The injured woman was admitted to the hospital for treatment for encephalitis. After she fell in her hospital room, she suffered from a fractured acetabulum and a compression fracture in her spine. It is not clear how the fall happened, but the lawsuit states that the hospital is liable for the accident because there were fall hazards in the woman’s room.
The lawsuit also claims that the hospital failed to properly monitor the woman as she was recovering from her illness. She is seeking attorney fees and damages from the accident, which would likely include costs associated with additional medical treatment. Hospitals should not only provide a safe environment, but they should also watch patients carefully while they are admitted.
A personal injury suit is an option for an individual if he or she has suffered because of the negligence of another person. A civil suit is a legal process initiated in order to seek compensation when this negligence has inflicted physical, mental or emotional suffering.
