Wrongful death: Head-on crash kills 1 in West Virginia

The average person may give little thought to how stressful and challenging it could be to lose a loved one in a fatal collision. Unfortunately, such an incident could occur at any given moment and under a multitude of circumstances. A recent accident involving as many as three vehicles has led to the apparent wrongful death of a 27-year-old woman in West Virginia.

According to reports, the incident took place on a recent Saturday afternoon when a van came to a stop while the driver waited to make a left turn. Initial investigations indicate that upon approaching the van, the driver of a truck was unable to slow down and attempted to swerve out of its path and avoid a collision. Unfortunately, the truck entered oncoming lanes in the process and struck a third vehicle head-on.

Reports indicate that the truck also collided with the side of the van before coming to a halt. Although it is unclear whether the drivers of the van or truck suffered injuries in the crash, the driver of the third vehicle was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Accidents in which a vehicle shifts into the wrong lane of traffic may leave oncoming drivers with little time to respond and the results of similar incidents run a greater risk of having catastrophic outcomes.

Families who encounter the sudden and untimely loss of a loved one under similar circumstances may face a variety of hardships in life. Following the crash, the surviving loved ones of the victim could choose to seek legal counsel for advice in understanding their available legal avenues. This type of guidance could help a person in West Virginia become better prepared to pursue the full amount of restitution entitled through a wrongful death claim.
