Motor vehicle accidents: 2 injured, 1 killed in head-on collision

It can take little more than a couple of seconds for a vehicle to drift through the median and cross into oncoming lanes. Motor vehicle accidents that take place under similar circumstances can be dangerous and could run the risk of leaving everyone involved with serious injuries, or worse. One person died and two more suffered serious injuries in a recent accident that took place in West Virginia.

Law enforcement agents responded to reports of the accident at around 6:45 a.m. on a recent Friday. According to initial investigations, the incident occurred when for unknown reasons, the driver of an eastbound car suddenly crossed over the center line and veered into an oncoming lane of traffic. Police advised that the car collided with an oncoming truck head-on shortly thereafter.

Emergency responders say the driver who caused the crash was pinned within her vehicle in the process and died at the scene. A passenger in her car and the driver of the truck were transported to a hospital with serious injuries before being airlifted to another facility for additional care. An investigation into the crash is underway and it remains unclear what might have caused the driver to lose control and enter the opposite lane.

Head-on motor vehicle accidents can have disastrous outcomes. Those who suffer harm in a crash due to the actions of another party may wish to pursue accountability through the civil justice system, and they could choose to retain the services of a personal injury attorney for guidance in the process. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in West Virginia in pursuing restitution through a claim against the party deemed at fault.
