Motor vehicle accidents: Crash kills 2, severely injures 1

When a driver loses control of a car and veers into the opposite lane, others nearby may have difficulty reacting in time to prevent a collision. Motor vehicle accidents of this nature can have catastrophic results, as similar incidents run the risk of causing severe or fatal injuries. A collision that took place under similar circumstances in West Virginia has claimed the lives of two individuals and left a third person with serious injuries.

According to authorities, the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on a recent Sunday when a driver suddenly lost control of her vehicle and entered the opposite lane. Shortly thereafter, her vehicle proceeded to side-swipe a nearby car, subsequently causing both vehicles spin out of control. The driver and a passenger in the vehicle that initiated the collision were both pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the second car was rushed to a trauma center in serious condition.

Although an investigation has been initiated, it is unclear what might have caused the driver to lose control and veer into the wrong lane of traffic. Nearby witnesses reportedly informed police that it appeared as though neither driver was able to hit the brakes before the accident. Those who encounter a negligent driver could be left with little to no time to react to the situation at hand, and the consequences of a similar incident can be disastrous.

Those who suffer serious injuries in motor vehicle accidents may face a variety of hardships, physical and financial alike. If the other driver is at fault in a collision, the victim could choose to speak with an attorney for assistance in pursuing restitution through a personal injury claim. Should the other driver pass away after the accident, an attorney can assist a client in West Virginia in filing a claim against the estate of the deceased.
