Motor vehicle accidents: Chain reaction crash injures 5, kills 2

When a serious accident occurs, police may be tasked with initiating an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. With motor vehicle accidents involving multiple cars, reconstructing the crash and identifying the cause can be a challenging task. An investigation is currently underway concerning a recent multiple-vehicle collision that reportedly led to the death of two individuals and injured several others in West Virginia.

Authorities have advised that the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on a recent Tuesday. According to reports, several vehicles were stopped at a traffic light when a water tanker truck suddenly crashed into the rear of a car. This prompted a chain reaction that involved as many as eight vehicles in total, and the car was subsequently crushed between the tanker and a nearby dump truck.

Several individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment soon thereafter. Unfortunately, both occupants in the car were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Although police have advised that the tanker initiated the crash, they assert that the investigation is still underway and that the cause of the accident remains unclear.

Should the driver of the tanker be deemed at fault in the collision, which is likely, the victim’s surviving family members may be entitled to pursue restitution in civil court. Individuals who experience loss in motor vehicle accidents could choose to consult with a personal injury attorney for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can assist a client in West Virginia in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a wrongful death claim.
