Motor vehicle accidents: Rear-end crash kills 1, injures another

It is no secret that following closely behind another vehicle while driving can be a dangerous decision. Many motor vehicle accidents have occurred under similar circumstances, and although most rear-end collisions lead to little more than severe property damage, they also have the potential to cause significant harm to everyone involved. A recent collision in West Virginia has reportedly claimed the life of one person and left another in critical condition.

Authorities advised the incident took place at around 12:45 p.m. on a recent Tuesday as several cars were slowing down upon encountering a construction zone. According to initial investigations, the driver of a truck failed to notice the sudden slow in traffic and rear-ended a car. The initial impact forced the car to strike a third vehicle before coming to a rest.

The driver of the truck wasn't harmed in the accident, and both individuals within the third vehicle suffered only minor injuries. However, the driver of the car was rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. Unfortunately, a passenger in the car suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have also advised that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine whether speed might have been a contributing factor.

Victims who suffer harm or lose someone close in motor vehicle accidents may wish to exercise their right to pursue legal recourse, but the process can be stressful and intimidating. For assistance in navigating the civil justice system, a person could choose to retain the services of an experienced attorney. An attorney can assist a client in West Virginia in pursuing the full amount of restitution to which he or she is entitled through a claim against the party deemed at fault.
