Testim faces products liability from West Virginia patients

Certain products on the market can lead to injuries. Some of the injuries are so severe that a person is required to be hospitalized or have surgery. A product called Testim has allegedly caused injury to West Virginia patients and throughout the country. Recently, the product has been the subject of products liability claims.

As men get older, their testosterone levels may decrease. Testim is a product on the market that helps with low testosterone levels and in turn increases energy and sex drive. The companies that make or promote this product have stated that it is safe. However, that may not be the case, and two men suffered from testosterone heart attacks back in 2012 and 2013. Due to those events, one was forced to have a coronary bypass.

According to reports, a majority of testosterone prescriptions were given before medical facility determined the exact testosterone levels of the recipients. Reports also suggest that patients are at risk for heart attack or stroke. According to the lawsuit, the defendants, including GlaxoSmithKline and Auxilium, represented the product as being effective and safe for use. The FDA is reportedly investigating certain testosterone products including creams and gels.

Products that are defective can cause serious injuries to consumers who use them. The injuries may require hospitalization and follow-up care to recuperate. West Virginia patients who were injured while using Testim or any other testosterone supplement may have the right to pursue products liability claims against the manufacturer and/or any other company that promoted it. The civil court system may award financial relief if evidence demonstrates that the product's company acted with negligence.
