Accident could be grounds for wrongful death claim

Morgantown, West Virginia, is mourning the loss of a local fireman after a fatal accident claimed his life. The man was involved in a collision on Route 119, and police have determine that his vehicle was struck by a Ford F-350. Based on the details known at this time about the accident, it is possible the family has grounds to pursue compensation through a wrongful death claim.

When West Virginia law enforcement arrived on the scene of the accident, they found the sedan driven by the deceased terribly mangled from the impact. Accident reconstructionists were called in to determine what happened between the smaller sedan and large truck. They determined that the driver of the truck was turning left off U.S. 119 when he hit the car.

Despite emergency medical intervention, the fireman was declared dead at a local hospital. It is not known what factors caused the accident, but there are options available to the family even if criminal charges are not filed against the driver. Criminal charges are not a prerequisite to a civil claim pursued by the family of a person killed in a motor vehicle accident.

After an accident, a grieving family can turn to an experienced attorney in order to determine what legal steps are appropriate. Wrongful death compensation cannot undo the damage that has been done, but it can go a long way toward helping a family recover their financial losses and move forward. The aftermath of a fatal accident is hard, but those left behind do not have to walk through it alone.
